Terms Of Use
Welcome to ChessWiki! By using or contributing to our website, you agree to these Terms of Use. Please read them carefully.
1. Our Copyright License (CC BY-SA 4.0)
To ensure chess knowledge remains free and accessible to everyone forever, all text content published on ChessWiki is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.
Reading & Sharing
You are free to copy, redistribute, and remix our content for any purpose, even commercially.
The Rules
If you share or modify ChessWiki content, you must give appropriate credit to ChessWiki and distribute your contributions under the exact same CC BY-SA 4.0 license.
2. Content Submission Agreement
ChessWiki is a curated encyclopedia community-driven by the Chess University. While anyone can suggest edits or submit articles, all content is reviewed, approved, and manually published by the site administration.
When you submit chess analysis, text, or articles to us for review, you agree to the following:
Grant of License
You agree that if your submission is approved, it will be published under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, making it freely available to the public under those terms.
Original Work Only
You promise that you wrote the content yourself. Do not submit text copy-pasted directly from copyrighted chess books, paid courses, or other websites. (While raw chess moves and PGNs cannot be copyrighted, original written commentary and explanations absolutely are).
Editorial Discretion
We reserve the right to edit, format, reject, or remove any submission at our sole discretion to maintain the quality and tone of the wiki.
3. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
"As-Is" Basis
ChessWiki is a free educational resource. While we thoroughly review all submissions for quality, we do not guarantee the absolute correctness of every opening line, tactical evaluation, or tool recommendation.
No Liability
ChessWiki, its founders, and the Chess University community are not legally responsible for any outcomes resulting from your use of the site. Including, but not limited to, lost tournament games, dropped rating points, or decisions made based on our resource reviews.
4. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Your continued use of the site or submission of content constitutes acceptance of any updates.
